Continuing to Achievement

Continuing to Achievement

It is always a privilege to show prospective parents around our school and last week’s Open Day was no exception; our visitors could not fail to notice the unrivalled welcome from our pupils on entry. They were equally impressed with their engagement in lessons and the extent of our specialist teaching provision supplemented by an extensive array of activities and clubs.

One of the stand-out features of the school is the unrelenting focus on every child’s academic and personal development which is underpinning a track record of high achievement. This week alone in assembly, we awarded fourteen Core Value Awards each of which require consistent recognition of ten core value house points in key areas of school life. In addition, I was delighted to present two Awards for Excellence for outstanding literacy and English writing – congratulations to Alexandra and Haziq (Year 4) as well as the certificates for our first, second and third place winners of the inaugural Hampshire School Chelsea’s Spelling Bee. Furthermore, the School now has a three-year track record of success in the UK Mathematics Challenge, designed to test the ablest mathematicians and inspire a love of problem solving. All Year 6-8 pupils received their participation certificates and we congratulated those with specific awards:

Gold Award:     Constantin (Year 6)

Silver Award:     Aminah (Year 7), Mia (Year 6), Gleb (Year 6), Charlie (Year 8)

Bronze Award:   Henry (Year 6), Arthur (Year 6), Alistair (Year 8), Liam (Year 8)

Just when I thought it could not get any better this week with regard to achievement, I received the ISA National Art Competition Final 2020 brochure and certificates for Rayan and Nicolo. Further success came via the announcement of The KPS Connected – Nature Challenge winner. Constantin’s (Year 6) wonderful Ecopoly board design stood out among all the competition entries as the most unique and original way of responding to the challenge. The KPS judges were really impressed by the concept, design and attention to detail that Constantin demonstrated. Congratulations also go to Max W (Year 6), Eve (Year 5), Esther-Marie (Year 5) and Nicolo (Year 6)

After half-term, there is much to look forward to. The pupils have the opportunity to excel in their English Speaking Board examinations and I look forward to celebrating a breadth of attainment in all year groups as we continue to maximise outcomes for all.

I wish you a very enjoyable half-term break!
