The Hampshire School Chelsea Activities and Clubs Programme offers a breadth of exciting, engaging and innovative clubs and activities.

  • Some clubs are free to attend, while others come with a cost.
  • Some clubs are limited in number so a waiting list will be created. 
  • All invite only clubs will be organised by the teacher in charge and parents will be emailed accordingly
  • Sign up to clubs via the link: https://thehampshireschoolchelsea.parentseveningsystem.co.uk/ 
  • Pupils can attend one session as a trial and will not be charged.
  • Pupils who attend two sessions or more will be invoiced for the whole term.
  • The Fee charged will only be prorated if the Supplier cannot fulfil all ten sessions per term. Not if a child decides to not attend all ten sessions.
  • You will be notified which clubs your child will be able to attend.

Please note that due to a cap on numbers in clubs, the allocation of places is on a ‘first come first served’ basis followed by a waiting list, if required.

Netball Club

Story time

Yoga

Information:         Children will develop basic techniques, learn to relax and how to manage their emotions. Yoga develops strength and coordination and teaches children to listen to their bodies.

 

Debating club

Brainbuilders Maths Club - Year 3/4

JK Educate Tutoring

Cost:        £600 (12 sessions including half-term)

Information:         Group tutoring sessions 7+/8+ will be able on Mondays 4-5pm at The Hampshire School Chelsea. The JK Educate tutoring agency and educational consultancy is run by experienced and caring senior teachers and former school leaders.

Extra:       Individual Tutoring Available at school, during the week, any time between 4-6pm each day, Cost: £79 per hour.

Construction Club

Information: Children work in small groups or independently, depending on the activity chosen. Each week they complete different building challenges using different construction resources e.g. Lego, Polydron, Poleidobocs etc. We encourage children to mix wit others from different years and groups to improve their teamwork skills. The challenges they choose are problem-solving activities which will also help to develop maths, engineering and technology skills in line with our STEAM initiative.

Mindfulness Coloring

Information:         A chance to let go of any thoughts about tomorrow or yesterday, or what we are going to do when we finish. Mindful Colouring asks us to focus on how we choose and apply colour in a design to bring our awareness to the present moment.

 

Archery

Information: Archery is a great fun Olympic sport which is open to all. It has many transferable skills which can be linked in with Citizenship lessons or Life Skills and Personal Development programmes. Some of the skills archery promotes include self-discipline, mental arithmetic, staying calm under pressure, cooperation, following instructions, working individually and as part of a team. To take part in an archery session, students must adhere to strict safety guidelines, which encourages personal responsibility and consideration of the safety of others. Furthermore, involvement in active, structured activities with tangible outcomes has been shown to promote self-esteem and emotional well-being in short-term and longer-term projects.

 

Jiu Jitsu

Information: Bruno Zacher is a second-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and competed at National and International level (UAEJJF and NAGA). Mr Zacher is the Head Coach of the Kids Program at Roger Gracie Academy with over 200 children currently attending his classes. The classes will cover aspects of self-defence and Sport Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Children will learn how to use body movement, the basics of balance, coordination leverage and control through games and specific positions in a safe and fun environment.

 

Maths Booster – 7+, 8+ and 9+

Film Making Club

Information:         Over the course of the spring term, students will have the opportunity to work both in front and behind the camera. Each session will involve various exercises that serve to highlight different elements of film making, including shot selection, on screen acting, camera operating shot composition and directing. On completion of the term, you will receive an edited copy of the filming process and activities during the term.

Funakoshi Shotokan Karate

Cost:        £255 (plus £40 annual affiliation fee with FSKA UK)

Information:         A fun interactive session where children will learn fundamental skills for participation. A popular Karate club run for beginners in Karate by Sensei Fabio; a well-qualified and accomplished competitor and instructor. Children will be graded in March, the date of which is still to be confirmed. If your child grades, a £54 fee is made to cover the cost of the grading. Grading day with be on Saturday 5th December.

 

Junior Dance Club

Information:         Table tennis club offers professional training from international players and coaches. We offer a fun-filled session with a sport that develops hand eye-coordination, improves balance

Wallace Chess Club

Information:         During the club there will be an in-house tournament as well as coaching on strategy and tactics. Over the past 10 years, we here at Wallace Chess have prided ourselves in providing chess activities that enrich the lives of children. Created by Astrid S. Wallace and International Master, John-Paul Wallace, they wanted to use chess as a vehicle to develop confidence, cognitive skills and sportsmanship in children. Thus, in addition to an emphasis on learning and competing, all our chess services focus on an experience of being part of a team and having fun. As such our services not only suit those already well learned in the game of chess, but also provide the perfect introduction for a beginner.

 

Fine Motor Skills

Information:         Olympic Rhythmic Gymnastics is an impressive sport that uses the handheld apparatus of ribbon, rope, hoop, ball & clubs. Over the term your child will be guided through the physical and artistic aspects of the sport by Olympic Choreographer Ellen Watson, whose work was performed in competition by Team GB at the 2012 London Olympic Games. Robotics Club

Information:         This is a club that introduces children to robotics and coding. With a variety of hands-on activities, children will embark on an exciting engineering journey, designing and building robots, and developing their coding skills. Children will build and program Lego robots and other types of robots to understand how coding and engineering skills can extend beyond the screen. Together we'll be designing and making machines that can move, sense distance or colour, and program them using a block-based coding language. Our Junior Robotics club is creative, entertaining, and most importantly, valuable as children will develop essential computational thinking and creative problem-solving skills. This hands-on club will provide fun off-screen activities, as well as help children gain an understanding of how coding languages work in the world around us!
