Specialist Support

At The Hampshire School Chelsea, it is our policy to appreciate the individuality of all the children who come into our care, and to support and nurture their physical, intellectual, emotional and social development, irrespective of their starting points.

Challenging the Able, Gifted and Talented

All pupils are carefully monitored and their progress tracked by teaching staff. This information is shared to enable all staff to plan work with sufficient challenge for all and to extend the children within and beyond the classroom. A differentiated and personalised learning environment ensures that the needs of each individual child is met.

Learning Support

Children who have a diagnosed special educational need and/or disability may require additional support in one or more areas of school life. The Head of Inclusion works with staff and the child’s parents to implement interventions identified in the child’s Educational Psychologist’s Report.

We discuss any concerns regarding a child’s progress with parents at an early stage and agree steps to support the individual child. We very much value parental involvement as a joined-up approach between school and home regularly yields the greatest progress.

For details of our educational provision for our pupils identified with SEND, please refer to the school’s Special Educational Needs Policy which is available to download from the Policies section of the school website.

Linguistic Diversity

We know that mastery of multiple languages is academically and culturally advantageous and we aim to meet the diverse needs of children who have English as an additional language.
