A Celebration of Accomplishment

Posted: 28th March 2022

There are so many wonderful highlights in being a Head of a school. Of unparalleled joy is seeing the children excel and seize opportunities to showcase their talents whether on the stage, the sports field, in lessons, through participation in a club or achieving a personal best in a termly internal examination.

It was apparent this month that our target of developing articulate learners was progressing well with pupils demonstrating the skills of public speaking with confidence. At the Bellevue Debating Competition, four pupils from Year Five and Year Six succeeded in winning all their heats and were congratulated for their ability to present an argument. The annual Poetry Competition entries melted the faces of enthusiastic audiences starting with Nursery reciting two poems with confidence followed by Reception who enthralled us with their rendition of Sea Capers by Valerie Bloom. Individual performances from pupils in Year One through to Year Eight, for both the recitation section and written poems, were staggeringly good.

Embedding the value of community was also high on our agenda. The abundance of red accessories on Red Nose Day reflected the children’s enthusiasm for supporting the wider community and the Red Nose Quiz raised £150. The Easter Assembly was bustling with excited children eager to perform to their parents and the Awards Assembly celebrated achievement across the breadth of the curriculum. The Community Breakfast brought the whole school community together with a wonderful turn-out of Hampshire School families enjoying the array of foods expertly prepared by the Thomas Franks catering team. It was super that Mr Lock (Head designate) was able to join us and speak to parents.

I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Easter break. I look forward to welcoming the children back to school on the 20 April for what will be a very busy term brimming with academic endeavours, fun activities and an abundance of exciting events and educational trips.
