At The Hampshire School Chelsea, we promise that all learners will be valued, respected and supported in providing a high quality education in a stimulating environment.

We are a reflective learning community which prepares learners for an ever evolving world. We aim to inspire a sense of security and belonging which builds confidence and respect through high expectations academically, socially, and emotionally.

Our school aims and the five Core Values

  • To develop pupils' self-esteem, resilience and well-being through the application of a Growth Mindset to learning.
  • To create an atmosphere of mutual respect and consideration for the ideas, values and feelings of others.
  • To value and develop strong partnerships with our parents and the wider community.
  • To inspire a love of learning and encourage the use of key thinking skills across the curriculum and school life so that every pupil strives for personal and academic excellence.
  • To encourage responsibility in every pupil so they can confidently make decisions and choices for themselves.

Priorities for the academic year include:

         Pupils Driving Change

We believe that children are important influencers of policy and decision-making and have a genuine and legitimate right to be heard and drive change.

Through our Pupils Driving Change  provision we aim to ensure that all pupils have opportunities to make a real and valued difference to the development of the school.

          Ambitious for All

We are ambitious about every child’s academic and personal outcomes.

We will maximise pupils’ outcomes through enrichment and rigorous monitoring of individual pupil progress to provide the challenge and personalised learning targets for optimum achievement within our broad curricular and co-curricular learning provision.

      Making Learning Visible

We value collective teacher efficacy and teaching practices that work best to accelerate pupils’ learning.

We will make learning visible through our focus on seeing and knowing learning through the ‘eyes’ of our pupils. Learning goals will continue to be challenging and explicit with pedagogy implemented that work best to accelerate pupils’ learning.

A short video will be released soon.

History of the School

The Hampshire School was founded in 1944 by the visionary artist and teacher June Hampshire. June Hampshire’s daughter and pupil is the legendary actor Susan Hampshire OBE. June Hampshire began teaching when she founded a prestigious dance school in 1928. Her vision was an all-round education that would help children to achieve outstanding academic results and a deep appreciation of culture.
