The Hampshire School Chelsea prepares pupils for transition to a broad range of day and boarding schools at both 11+ and 13+.

We place high importance on finding the right school for each individual pupil and we have an enviable record of pupils obtaining places at their first choice schools. In addition to the destination schools listed on the website for our pupils starting senior school, girls have previously successfully gained entry to the City of London School, Benenden School, The Godolphin & Latymer School and St Paul's Girls' School with the boys securing places at St Edward’s School and Westminster. Co-educational day and boarding schools have included, amongst others; Canford, Epsom College, Haileybury, Harrodian, King’s College, Mill Hill, Radley, Rugby, Charterhouse, Oundle, Marlborough and Stowe.

One of the key roles of a preparatory school Head is advising parents on their child’s next school and our extensive knowledge and close relationship with all our prospective senior schools supports the transition. Preparation for senior school at 11+ and 13+ is tailored to the individual pupil’s needs and their first choice school. Parents are invited to 1-1 meetings with Dr Edmonds, the Head, to discuss their child’s senior school options. The Hampshire School Chelsea also hosts an annual Senior Schools Fayre which is very well attended by day and boarding school leadership teams including admissions departments of the 11+ and 13+ selective London schools. The bespoke and informative Senior Schools Transition booklet, written by Dr Edmonds for Hampshire School Chelsea parents, is published and shared at the Senior School Transition Presentation and Information event.

Our broad, rigorous and coherent curriculum covers the content of the ISEB and individual schools’ syllabi at 11+ and 13+. Sample papers with mark schemes are provided for regular practice and summer holiday revision packs provide sample resources differentiated to support and challenge all pupils. Our mock examinations and familiarisation exercises with computer interface and online assessments replicate the real tests experience as closely as possible. In addition, we offer optional early morning sessions for practice of papers and revision and interview support. Our timely Parents’ Evenings and regular information events answer the queries that parents may have regarding the transition to senior schools in London and the Home Counties.

With this robust approach to preparing all the pupils for the next exciting stage in their educational journey, a smooth and successful transition to senior school is assured.
