United against bullying

United against bullying

This week at school was Anti-Bullying Week, with the theme of ‘United Against Bullying'. Monday was Odd Socks Day, an opportunity for pupils to express themselves and celebrate their uniqueness. The underlying message was that being yourself is good. This was underlined with an assembly cautioning how bullying can happen, the different types of bullying and how best to deal with it.

In tandem, the school is part of a schools-wide competition for pupils to share their best photos and videos of pupils wearing their odd socks. Schools that capture the look most creatively will win a visit and performance from Andy and the Odd Socks in 2021. The band is  best known from the wacky comedy drama Andy and the Band on CBeebies and CBBC.

Bullying has a long-lasting effect on those who experience and witness it and by channelling our collective power, through shared efforts and ambitions, we can reduce the problem altogether.

We are galvanising parents, carers, teachers and pupils to play their part in coming together to make a difference.
The initiative is co-ordinated by the Anti-Bullying Alliance, which is based  at the National Children's Bureau. Andy and the Odd Socks are patrons of the Anti-Bullying Alliance.
