It has been a busy World Book Week, with two visiting authors coming into school to present to the pupils and to run writing workshops. On Tuesday 1 March we were privileged to have M.G Leonard, who wrote the Beetle Boy books and Adventures on Trains series.
She delivered a really fun and insightful presentation about becoming a writer, along with amazing facts about beetles! The Year Five and Six pupils then enjoyed a writing workshop on mystery writing, which provided them with a great opportunity to plan their own detective story. M.G Leonard then finished her visit by signing bookmarks for the pupils.
On World Book Day on Thursday 3 March, pupils came into school as an eclectic range of book characters, from Winnie the Pooh and Piglet to Gangster Granny and Sherlock Holmes. Added to this, we had a local author, Camille Goodman, into school to run workshops with nursery to Year Four on her recent children’s book “Mister Finch and The Queen”, a beautifully illustrated children’s book. This book is also available at a book signing and online: https://www.mindsunderground.com/mister-finch
It was a wonderfully busy week which the children thoroughly enjoyed.
