The Summer Arts Festival 2017

Recently, we put on a beautiful and eclectic 3 day long arts festival that showcased the amazing talents of our pupils and staff members.

Day 1 was filled with music and rhythm as our Early Years and Years One, Two and Three regaled us with amazing dancing and singing performances. Then, we were greeted with a visit from Pippa Cleary from Pippa’s Poppets where she played the piano and sang songs from her show about Peter Pan. Afterwards, there was a viewing of the lovely art pieces made by our pupils and staff members. This performances and art pieces encompassed a multitude of different cultures, teaching the children about them and the culture’s history.

Day 2 started with Kate, a musical theatre performer about to join the cast of Crazy For You Musical UK tour, answering thoughtful questions about her profession. We were all enthralled by her amazing tap dancing skills as she worked the stage. This was followed by breath-taking performance gymnastics, rhythmic basketball, skeleton dancers and une chanson francaise. To finish off the day, parents and the children had some lovely tea while viewing another excellent art exhibit made by the kids.

Day 3 we were surprised with the talented Christopher Tendai’s hip-hop dance routine. He graciously answered all of the children’s intelligent questions about dancing and working as a part of the popular Hamilton cast. We ended the last day with African drums, a STOMP performance and an amazing show by our very own rock band ‘The Five Dimensions’.

The Hampshire School values the skills and creativity that the arts instil in our children. This Summer Arts Festival was one for the books, and we look forward to what fun and knowledge next year’s will bring us.
