In science, Year Six have been studying different methods of separation. At the start of the lesson, the children were set a challenge to separate a mixture of salt and sand. After much discussion, the children settled on the following method to tackle the problem. They first added some water to the mixture of salt and sand to dissolve the salt. Next, they poured their new mixture through some filter paper in order to collect the sand. Finally, they left their saltwater (with the sand now removed) in a warm place. This caused the water to evaporate leaving behind the salt crystals! There was some excellent teamwork and resilience on show during the lesson - well done Year Six!
