Prep Pupils Meet a Suffragette

Posted: 28th March 2022

Pupils in Years Five to Eight were treated to a visit from an actress working with the Museum of London, who performed as the Suffragette, Kitty Marion.  Marion was a highly educated woman who joined the Suffragettes in her 30s.

Pupils had prepared for the event by exploring the reasons women had been denied the vote, and had learned about the key differences between the Suffragists and the Suffragettes – the most notable of which was the attitudes towards the use of direct action against the law. They had been tasked with creating their own questions to ask the visitor in her role as Ms Marion, and they did not disappoint.

Our visitor was extremely impressed with the level of insight, understanding and maturity of the questions they asked her, and all enjoyed what was an immersive and enlightening experience.  Pupils described the experience as ‘fascinating’, ‘enlightening’, and ‘memorable’, and everyone agreed that the topic was explained and demonstrated exceptionally well.
