On Wednesday 9 June, the Hampshire School Chelsea played a 10 Over fixture against Hill House School at Battersea All Weather Pitches.
Two mixed teams were picked to take on Hill House on what was a glorious sunny afternoon.
Both Hampshire School teams after winning the toss decided to bat first. Team one showed a nervous start but soon started hitting the ball confidently. Their communication between the wickets was very good, which helped them to score vital extra runs. Team two started well with some quick runs but soon wickets began to fall as they tried to hit the big shots and boundaries.
After a short break, both teams went out to field and bowl. Team 1 started with some good bowling, keeping the ball straight and keeping Hill House from scoring quick runs. As the overs passed Hill House started producing some good shots and their score was getting close to ours. In the final over with 8 needed to win, Hill House scored some quick runs and with one rub needed off the last ball, they scored four runs that clinched the match.
Team two bowled well, a good line and length during the first few overs which had the Hill House batsman rattled. As the overs went by, Hill House started to take control of the game and were scoring off most balls. During the last few overs, although the bowling was good, the batsmen were still scoring runs and won the match convincingly.
A great effort by both teams, with some good positives, to take back to training next week.
