04 March 2021 La Chandeleur Year 3 have been busy making pancakes (les crepes) for La Chandeleur ( French version of Pancake day) at home. They have followed a French recipe and then added a filling of their choice. La Chandeleur was originally a Christian festival dating back to Roman times. The 'Fête de la Chandeleur' celebrates the presentation of Jesus, and marks the end of the Christmas season. It is celebrated 40 days after Christmas on the 2 February, and has many proverbs and interesting superstitions surrounding it. The children enjoyed making them (with supervision and assistance at home) and came up with inventive toppings to enjoy. News Share Tweet
