Early Years
The curriculum in the Early Years follows the Early Years Foundation Stage guidelines. We encourage children to develop their social, language, aesthetic and academic skills through play, music, drama, art, physical education and practical activities. Throughout the setting, the focus is on the individual child, ensuring that each child feels, and is, successful.
Children are welcome to join us from the term they turn three, in the Pre-Nursery class. Here, the focus is on settling into, and adapting to, a school environment; through concentrating on their social, language and physical abilities. As they progress through Nursery, these skills are continued to be enhanced, whilst a greater focus is also placed on their understanding of numeracy and literacy concepts. This creates a strong platform for their Reception year, where an emphasis is placed on embedding these critical skills, ensuring they are confident in all areas, prior to moving to Year One. Throughout their time with us; the curriculum is enhanced by weekly French, gym, swimming, dance, ballet, music, art and library sessions by the school specialist teachers. There is an age appropriate balance between adult-led and child-led activities, ensuring each child takes ownership of their progress, becoming reflective and active learners.
The move into the Pre-Prep section is merely a change of building, not a change of school. Continuity with the Early Years section is maintained through regular moderation and transition activities and the children continue to make excellent progress from the level of attainment reached at the end of their Early Years education.
