The first years of your child’s education are crucial to academic and life success.
At the Hampshire School, we introduce our very young children to the thrill of learning in a warm, nurturing family environment. Our Early Years children develop outstanding social, language, aesthetic and academic skills through play, music, drama, art and physical education.
Each child receives individual attention and is encouraged to learn, make friends and feel successful. The Hampshire School Early Years curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage guidelines.
Ages for joining
Children can join The Hampshire School pre nursery class during the term they turn three. At nursery level, we focus on developing social, language and physical skills while helping children settle productively into their new learning environment.
As children progress, they learn numeracy and literacy concepts, and explore creative and world topics. This early learning builds strong skills for Reception year. We aim to develop your child’s skills and confidence in all areas before they move to Year One.
Your child’s curriculum learning is enhanced by weekly French, gym, swimming, dance, ballet, music, art and library sessions with our specialist teachers.
Moving to pre prep level
We ensure continuity for your child with regular transition activities.
The move into the pre prep section is a merely change of building, not of school. Continuity with the Early Years section is maintained through regular moderation and transition activities. The children continue to make excellent progress from the level of attainment reached at the end of their Early Years education
