United Nations Day

United Nations Day

On 16 October we ran UN Day at the school to celebrate the organisation's 75th birthday. It was also a colourful day as it was mufti day for pupils. The idea was for pupils to wear an outfit relating to their nationality. While the older pupils did just that, the younger ones arrived as spacemen, fairies, the Statue of Liberty and the like.
The Debate Club kicked off the day, proposing that the UN should focus on promoting all nations sharing a proportion of their wealth to sustain our planet and its inhabitants.
The day closed with a grand assembly. Mia in Year 7 performed Love Song of Kangding, a Chinese folk song, on piano, and Years 7 and 8 treated us to African drumming while pupils paraded their outfits around the hall. To close, Olivia in Year 7 performed Vois sur ton chemin.
