ISA recognises pupils talent in art

Pupils at The Hampshire School Chelsea scooped first prize in the ISA Regional Art Award this week. The Awards are held annually as an opportunity to showcase student work from the previous school year.

Seven pupils from the school entered the competition and four were placed first in their category:

Food Crocodile by Nicolo Year 6 (completed when in Year 5), KS2 3D artwork category (top row, left).

Dali Portrait by Pau (former Year 8 student), KS3 drawing category (top row, right).

Group Portrait by a number of current Year 6 pupils, KS2 2D artwork category (bottom row, left).

Abstract Painting by Rayan Year 1 (completed when in Reception) EYFS 2D artwork category (bottom row, right).

Head of Art Chris McLeod said: “We are delighted that we have been recognised for our students’ hard work and talent. The art department at The Hampshire School Chelsea encourages our students to always do their best and we are very proud of them.”

The ISA National Art Competition celebrates success in pupils’ art and for teachers to share best practice and ideas. The competition is run across dozens of classes to cover different age groups and genres, from 2D art through to fashion and photography.

“The Hampshire School Chelsea’s roots lie in a robust arts provision,” says Head Dr P Edmonds. “Today we blend that with academic rigour to produce well-rounded pupils as we firmly believe that a holistic approach to learning offers the best educational outcomes.”
